Welcome to Modbury Kindergarten
At Modbury Kindergarten we believe that childhood is special and all children have a right to the magic of childhood – to run and jump in sunshine, to have time to think and investigate, to laugh, sing and dance, to grow, to learn, to be special, to feel loved and to have fun.
We believe that children learn through play in an environment that is safe, stimulating, secure and aesthetically pleasing. Play is fun and helps a child develop in all areas. Through play, children integrate what they are learning and stretch toward further possibilities.
While with us, each child will develop and demonstrate skills such as:
- Independence
- Self-confidence
- Self-esteem
- Problem solving skills
- Logical thinking
- Decision making skills
- Curiosity
- A love of learning
- Respect for others and their property
- Working in a group
- Care for our environment

Curriculum
We use the curriculum document Being, Belonging, Becoming – Early Years Learning Framework, to plan experiences to promote the development of children’s life skills and competencies.
The Focus Areas are:
- Children have a strong sense of identity
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
- Children are confident and involved learners
- Children are effective communicators
In our environment children are allowed the freedom to seek out their own learning individually or with the support of their peers and adults in their play.
Learning opportunities consist of activities for the children to:
- Make discoveries
- Explore their own interests
- seek answers to questions
- test their knowledge and hypotheses
- develop new skills and practice existing skills
At Modbury Kindergarten, we believe that literacy and numeracy is an important part of our program. We provide structured group times, with specific focus on early literacy and numeracy skills. Individual Learning Plans and Statements of Learning are provided for each child.
